About Us

My wife Sue and I have been running our gardening business in the Southern Highlands of NSW for 15 years. That has reinforced the importance of vistas and focal points within a garden which naturally led to a search for interesting items to use in the landscape.

Our search for such items for both ourselves and clients led us to all the usual suspects in the garden centres. These are typically mass produced and imported. Unsatisfied with the available options, I eventually decided to create my own piece for Sue as an anniversary gift. It was our Bronze anniversary but Copper was close enough. Sue loved it and people began to show so much interest that we decided to pursue making water features as a business and soon began broadening our offerings of quality pieces.

Our botanically themed water features attract wildlife, provide a calm and serene feel to the garden with their sound and of course provide a unique artistic focal point to any part of the garden.

We are driven to provide clients with a piece of art that is functional, calming and uniquely beautiful while providing the kind of service that we ourselves would expect ad appreciate.

Why Copper

Our handcrafted copper water features are more than garden accents, they’re living artworks that evolve with time. Verdigris is the blue-green hue that develops as copper interacts with the elements. This process enhances the aesthetic appeal of copper but also offers practical benefits such as a natural protection slowing oxidation, making them perfect for Australian gardens. It is why copper lasts so long compared to steel and other alloys.

The patina’s rich, greenish-blue tones create a striking contrast against lush greenery, transforming our water features into captivating focal points. Each sculpture develops a unique finish, ensuring your garden art is truly one-of-a-kind, unlike mass-produced alternatives.

The longevity made possible by this property makes our sculptures a sustainable investment, aging gracefully without the need for frequent maintenance.

Another Look

Copper lends itself perfectly to water features since it wears well and ages gracefully, developing a rich blue/green patina over time. However, under the right heat treatment conditions, copper develops colours and patterns that are both captivating and mesmerising. To me, they evoke memories of my father who was a carpenter all of his life and had a deep love of timber which I share.

Copper develops tones of red, gold and even black seams running through pieces very reminiscent of timbers like Cherrywood that are brought to shimmering life with laquer and other coatings. Our copper pieces share that beauty and we choose to preserve it with a coating as well. Penetrol is what we've found to work well and is very simple to use from an at home maintenance perspective.

Should you choose to keep that look you will need to reapply it on a biannual basis. The beginning of spring and again in the beginning autumn is a good rough schedule to keep to.  The process is straight forward and explained in the FAQ section of the website.

You can of course at any stage allow the Penetrol to wear off in the weather and not reapply it. This will allow air and water to reach the surface and the process of oxidation will resume eventually achieving the turquoise colours typically associated with aged copper.
